Jean’s Christening

Decided to do a back post about Jean’s Christening cos Mark reminded me I didn’t write anything at the time. By all accounts it was a great day. Went round to Dave’s place for bout 2 so everyone could meet up and then travel to the church in Leixlip. The three of us were in suits which looked a bit ridiculous considering we’ve never had cause to dress up before.

The Christening itself was at 3 and everything went smoothly with Mark as godfather needing help with “Ephitians”. 🙂 The baby was christened Jean Patricia and was suprisingly quiet throughout the whole ceremony. Afterwards we went to the River Forest Hotel for food and refreshments. The United vs Arsenal game was on so we were popping in and out of the function room to watch it on the big screen. United beat them 2-0 which was a major result as it brought their unbeaten run to an end. Nice one. 😀

After that we went down to the Three Sisters pub in Leixlip for a few more drinks and a laugh. Great band on doing rock stuff. Dave was really enjoying himself dancing away. 😆 We went home bout 2 ish. All in, a great day.

All round update

Been a couple of weeks since I last posted so heres a general update. Jimmy couldnt make the last game against……..eh I’m ashamed to say I don’t remember…..oh there it is, McKelvey Celtic. It was an away game in Finglas and the pitch had changed from last year so we had to go and find it. Luckily we had no trouble finding it and had 12 players (compared to 9 for the last away game). The performance wasn’t great though, we went 1-0 down after about 6 minutes after a break down the wing and a good finish. We then levelled things up after 20 mins with an in-swinging corner from Mohammad which was met by Colm Darcy. 🙂 After that we started to lose the plot somewhat with the midfield pushing forward too much and leaving massive gaps in behind. 🙁 That was compounded by the lack of pace in our defense at the moment and inevitably led to two more goals before the end.

At training last week Jerry mooted the idea of having a training session on the Monday evenings but I personally can’t make two nights during the week plus the games on Sunday. Hopefully we’ll be able to juggle the responsibility for training amongst us. Also met Dale, who is joining the management team, for the annual managers meeting in Slevins last week. Seems like a nice bloke but he works shift so we’ll have to see how much time he can devote. Good news anyway. We didn’t have a game last weekend so we’ll probably be in action this weekend.

HAL 9000

Finally got around to buying a new PC after having the same one for almost five years. I decided to take the plunge with the prospect of Half-Life 2 being released in the next few weeks. I got an AMD 64 3200+ processor, 1Gb of memory, MSI K8N Neo 3 motherboard, 2 x 200Gb hard drives, a Sapphire Radeon 9800 256-bit graphics card and a 12x Dual Layer DVD-RW drive. I’m salvaging a couple of bits (DVD ROM drive, modem) from my old machine so I can save a bit of money there. This is what it looks like. 😀

Thinking about investing in a 19-inch flat panel monitor and will make the call over the next couple of weeks. Not sure if the graphics card will run games that well at the monitors 1280×1028 native resolution though and that’ll be a deciding factor.

Dunboyne Update

Can’t believe its so long since I posted. 😐 Anyway, the Sunday before last (12th) we played Huntstown Villa FC at home and got a decent 2-2 draw out of the game. We were playing against the wind in the first half and did well to go in at half time 0-0 after a couple of close calls and a great save from Darren Jordan standing in for James in goal. After the break they did much better and were battling hard. The first goal for us came about 15 mins into the second half with good work down the right from Padraig and a deep cross which was met by Paul Booth. Christian then extended our lead five minutes later with a good finish after being one on one with the keeper. What happened then was a bit disappointing though as we let in two sloppy goals in the space of five minutes. Two defensive mix-ups cost us and we came out with a draw. Looking back we could have easily lost the game as they had a number of other chances. Overall a fair result.

There was no game last weekend as we could only muster 9 players. Ridiculous considering that we had 14 for the game before that. It shouldn’t be a hardship for the players to make the games so I’m gonna have a word with them now on Wednesday. This weekend we’re playing Artane/Beaumount at home.

Got a text from Jimmy about a club trophy and medal presentation on the 30th with guest of honour, Packie Bonner. Looking forward to that. 🙂

Baby Jean is born

Dave’s Mary gave birth to a little baby girl this morning at 11.18am. 😀 They’re both over the moon and named her, Jean. This entry is actually back dated as myself and Mark went in to see them on the Saturday.
