Taken at Muse in Marley Park on Wednesday evening. T’was a really good gig with the guys starting with ‘Map of the Problematique’ and finishing with ‘Knights of Cydonia’. ‘Feelin Good’ was sung by the whole place along with ‘Plug In Baby’ towards the end. The only crappy part of the evening was travelling to and from Marley Park. It took us an hour and twenty minutes from the city centre which meant we missed Kasabian. Boo-urns.

Technically they’re not stars but seen as I’m going to Muse tonight and this entry is about meteors, I’m making the leap. Indulge me. RP pointed out the fact that a meteor shower has been peaking over the past few days. Monday night was too overcast and rainy to see anything in Dublin but the clouds cleared enough last night for me to see four meteors burning up in the atmosphere. This kind of stuff fascinates me. Nothing can bring you down to earth (excuse the pun) more than to look up at the stars and realise that what we have here is truly unique and wondrous. The shower should still be visible tonight and you can view Astronomy Ireland’s info on it here.
Segwaying straight from that to Marley Park where Muse play this evening. The first time I saw them was at Oxegen last year and they live up to their reputation as the best live band in the world. I know a few of the Irish twitter peoples are going so hopefully I’ll see them there. Will post some photos tomorrow.

Well I suppose it’s only right that I put a post up on this considering I passed this morning.
After posting an update to Twitter I was inundated with @ replies, Facebook wall posts and even a dedicated entry over on Darren’s blog. For that I’m tremendously grateful, I’ve got some great friends.
So to details of how it went. I arrived 15 minutes early as I had been advised to by my instructor Aidan and was the only one in the waiting room till some Chinese dude came in. We both had the same time on our sheets and were brought down to this room (at the end of the longest corridor in the world). After being assigned a tester I sat down and he asked questions about the rules of the road and road signs. Then it was time for the real deal out on the mean streets of Tallaght.
After doing the engine checks we left the test centre and immediately went into an industrial estate where we encountered a comically placed bin truck and artic on opposite sides of the road. After that it was a spin through the village, out onto the bypass and then back via a couple of estates for turnabout/reverse around a corner. I wasn’t sure how I’d done when we got back as your man wasn’t really giving anything away. Alas I have it now (will pop into the Motor Tax Office on Thursday) and am delighted for it.
Lottie has tagged me with the movie of your life meme. I think I saw people doing this ages ago but I never partook. Well consider that fixed.
The Rules!
1. List the people who would play you, and the people in your life.
2. Give credit to the person who tagged you. That’d be Lottie mentioned above.
3. Link your answers to the original blog, that’s http://www.iRamble.co.uk
4. Tag four new people to participate.
To play me:

Despite what the ladies seem to think from the burlesque shenanigans, I wouldn’t pick any of the Bond actors. Well, maybe Daniel Craig. I’d be thinking more along the lines of Michael J Fox, Zach Braff, John Cusack or Topher Grace. Actually James McEvoy would probably be bang on. Always had a lot of respect for that guy, he seems decent and hard-working.
Family:
For my brother I’d probably pick a young Ewan Mc Gregor or someone like that. Ethan Hawke would be a good fit as well. For my mum it’d be someone like Meryll Streep. Strong, considered and loving. Hmmm. Tom Hanks for my da although he looks like John Cleese.
Friends:
I’ll go all out on this one and choose a good few friends I’ve left out a couple cos I can’t figure out ones for them.
Marshall Matters would be apt for Dave since he used to look like him plus he can sorta act. Jake Gyllenhaal for Mark. Darren’s pick of Ryan Phillippe for himself would probably be near on.
Mr Doyle is a difficult one to pick but I’d go for Robin Williams or Gene Wilder. Lottie’s self pick of Nicole Kidman I’d agree with. She seems to have that cheeky character. Jim Carey for DarDar cos he’s kooky.
Like RP my movie would need a montage where my character goes through some type of bootcamp. A trip to Vegas would also be involved (ala Swingers) and whatever else the director saw fit to include.
A lot of the people I know have already been tagged but I’ll tag three:
