I just watched the video of Kevin Rose demoing an initial version of Square which is a payment processing system for credit cards. The device is tiny and plugs into the top of an iPhone which then links in with an app. I’m really interested to see where they go with this as it looks tremendously easy to use. Here’s the vid:
I like the way it can show you a picture of the buyer if they’ve setup an account with Square. Jack Dorsey, one of Twitter’s co-founders, is the main guy behind this. One to watch.

This has been doing the rounds for a while (the concept, not this particular vid!). Would be fantastic if/when it takes off. Such a simple, elegant design that small businesses can use very easily. Using the social media people-power it could really take off and give us a “paypal for the real world” solution…
@Kevin: I saw it linked somewhere a while ago but hadn’t seen an actual working demo. Looks good alright and would assist smaller retailers who can’t afford the existing expensive CC processors.
