This week a friend of mine, Robin Blandford, launched his web app ‘Decisions for Heroes‘. Robin gave up a position in Reuters to pursue his dream of building an app that assists in saving lives. He pitched D4H at FOWA Dublin 2009 and I was struck by a particular line: ”My app isn’t for people in this room”. Too often our markets are chocked with competition as we’re building apps for techies, Robin’s app doesn’t suffer from that. Decisions for Heroes is intended to be used by rescue teams to record and analyse their activities. The information they glean from that data will assist them in making better decisions in the future. Robin’s got a lot of positive feedback so far and hopefully it’ll be adopted by thousands of teams around the world. Well done mate.
