Tom Raftery has written about certain site owners blocking Firefox completely as a plugin called Adblock can be installed which saves the user from viewing ads. I agree with him that people who use Adblock know about browsers, plugins and the ability to do things like this. ‘Joe Public’ on the other hand does not. I’ve yet to meet someone outside of my ‘IT knowledgeable’ friends who uses Firefox plugins at all. From what I’ve seen they’re the preserve of geeky crowd who aren’t gonna click ads anyway. Hell, I don’t use Adblock but I can understand why people do.
