How to accept defeat

I can’t claim to have watched the whole two weeks of Wimbledon. I did catch the men’s singles final yesterday between Andy Roddick and Roger Federer. Anyone who saw the match knows how much of an epic battle it was. It went to 5 sets eventually finishing with Federer winning out 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 16-14. This was Roddick’s third loss in a Wimbledon final but he composed himself to give what I believe is an amazingly humble and composed interview:

Lot of respect for the guy after that.

He’s the ultimate role model for modern athletes. I have never seen him be anything but gracious, humble, and respectful in both victory and defeat.

Totally agree with you. What a humble, endearing man.
