That’s David Johnson aka the World Famous Bush Man. He sits down at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Fran scaring tourists by leaping out from behind a bush made of eucalyptus branches. Classic stuff. I snapped this whilst we were moving past on the Segways.

I caught this in the States on the night before we left. I’d been intrigued by the plot in that it all seems to snowball from the discovery of a data disc with confidential data on it. Two hapless eejits played by Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt try to blackmail John Malkovich’s character and in doing so set off a bizarre series of events. Pitt and Clooney get the best parts but there isn’t one actor miscast in the entire film. I’d recommend seeing it here when it comes out in a week or so.

Tonight I went along to David O’Doherty in Vicar Street with Sir Byrne and Sir Rick. Damn funny night. I’ve been a fan of the guy for ages and he just keeps getting better. His Edinburgh award was truly deserved. I think the support act’s name was Wilson Dickson (thanks Darren), a comedic country singer character from the US. He was brilliant as well and the crowd really liked the material. I reckon he’ll be back to Ireland.

Don LaFontaine, the voice behind a shedload of trailers and the man responsible for the catchphrase ‘In a world…’ died on Monday. He’ll be missed.
