Well, I had my final consultation with my dermatologist last week. I’ve just been finishing off the course of Roaccutane over the past while and the difference that it’s made has been noticeable. I get quite a few comments about it from friends/relatives and although it’ll never be perfect, I’m more than happy with the results. Going on Roaccutane was about sorting a problem I had been living with for 10 years. I only saw it as a problem in certain situations but I never need to do that again. Some people talk about the side affects of Roaccutane but I can honestly say that I didn’t experience any serious side affects. Yes, there were days when my mood was all over the place. I will never forget one particularly horrific incident when my skin was peeling badly and I only noticied it when I went to the toilet.

However, it did the job for me. I believe strong drugs like Roaccutane should be monitored and researched constantly to make sure that their positive effects don’t outweigh their negative ones. I’m now more outgoing than I previously was and, although it sounds stupid, I’ve noticied more women looking at me in bars.

Not a bad week as it happens. I saw some of my mates who wouldn’t have seen me in a while and they thought it was working. Either that or they were humouring me. I missed a couple of tablets this week due to a variety of reasons but it has been the busiest week of my life since I started the Roaccutane course. The 1% hydrocortisone has worked really well in getting rid of the rash on my hands so I don’t have much to complain about.

I made an appointment to see my local doc this week as I had to get blood tests done to see if the Roaccutane is affecting my liver. Should have the results back in about a week or so. The rash I got on my hands had been getting worse so he told me to get 1% Hydrocortisone so I’ve started to use that today. Hopefully it’ll make a difference within the next week. My face seems to be getting better slower than my back by the dermatologist said that would happen.

Can’t believe it’s been this long since I’ve posted in the Roaccutane category but the past few weeks have been good if not great. My lips get very dry every few hours and I need to use the Blistex on them but they aren’t a real hardship at all. My skin is very dry and is noticeable in the corners of my face so I’m using the Dermacare moisturiser on it twice a day still. A rash on both of my hands has developed over the past two weeks so I’m booking an appointment with the doctor tomorrow for Wednesday. It’s a bright red rash on the backs of my hands but I’ve done a search on the web and other people have got similiar side affects from taking Accutane. I’ve noticied a change in my back in that it seems to be healing quite well at the moment. More updates at the end of this week.

I’ve been taking one tablet in the morning and then another in the evening with a glass of milk. I had to invest in lip balm stuff called Blistex because my lips were starting to dry quite badly. I’m getting used to it now but my skin overall is starting to dry up. I had some minor headaches last weekend but they may or may not have been related. Other than that I haven’t had any major side affects.
