Food for the soul

Had a great weekend. Things kicked off on Friday with my first appearance at football in ages. Played well, scored some nice goals and didn’t collapse from exhaustion. Afterwards I headed home to vote and chilled out for the evening in front of the Apprentice and Jonathan Ross.

Woke late on Saturday morning to torrential rain and wind. I went to view an apartment for a second time (more on that later) and repaired a PC before heading for DCU’s Helix theatre to see Gardiner Street Gospel Choir. After filming them for one of the Blog Awards videos, it was great to catch them again. They put on an amazing show filled with great solos and harmonies.

Sunday was dominated by the GAA at Croke Park. Myself, Paul and a motley crew headed in to watch both games with the Dubs winning the hurling and the football. The football lads would need to improve their finishing as 17 wides in the game weren’t punished effectively by Meath. The Dubs march on anyway. After a few pints and post match analysis, I headed home to watch the final of the Apprentice. I’m not sure I agree with Sir Alan’s decision to give Yasmina the job but there ya go.

All in all, a busy but great weekend.

Friday Photo – Meeting Dave Gorman

I’ve been a fan of the English comedian Dave Gorman for some years now. I like his wacky style and have watched/read about his adventures through Googlewhacking, driving across America unchained and finding other Dave Gormans. He was playing the Kilkenny Cat Laughs so his was one of the shows I booked first. At the festival club on Sunday night I got to meet the man and he’s an absolute gent. We’re flying over to see him perform in a train carriage in Scotland later this year but that’s another blog entry. :)

Manic

Street Preachers. I haven’t followed there recent stuff all that much but having seen them tonight, I’m going to rectify that. They rocked the Olympia.
