Friday Photo – Summer means festivals

Bishop Brennan'd at Oxegen 2007

This morning I booked my ticket for Electric Picnic. I haven’t heard of the majority of the acts but I think that’s why I’m looking forward to it even more. I’ve been to Oxegen a couple of times, as the photo above atests, so this’ll be something different. I still hope to get to Oxegen too though. I’ll be broke my end of the year.

Free Agents – Series One

I mentioned this show in February but now that it’s finished the first series, I wanted to give it another plug. It follows the lives of two central characters who work in an advertising agency. Helen (Sharon Horgan), whose fiance died the previous year and Alex (Stephen Mangan), a neurotic father of two who has since split from his wife. The series deftly jumps from pure comedic scenes to delicate interplay between the leads and it’s just really well written. It helps that there’s a great cast of characters surrounding them. Anthony Head is particularly hilarious as the wildly inappropriate boss whose lines are almost always laced with sexual innuendo. I really liked the way they finished off the series too. I’m not sure when it’s going to be re-run but I managed to download it off the Interweb (4OD doesn’t work in Ireland). Recommended.

Moon

Starring Sam Rockwell and featuring the voice of Kevin Spacey. This looks like sc-fi amazingness:
