Proud To Be a Toyboy

Grannymar badge Yes, that’s right. Despite never having met Grannymar I’ve been inducted into the exclusive ‘Grannymar Toyboy’ club. I must have got it on reputation or else it’s the company I keep. :) Never the less, I am honoured. If you haven’t read Grannymar’s blog then you should. Darren has his induction entry here.

Toyboy

I’ll be spending the weekend down in Kilkenny so blogging will be extra light (when is it not?). A few of us are headed down to see Ken Mc in Trainspotting.

Friday Photo - Canoeists on the Liffey

Taken whilst out walking last Sunday morning along the Liffey valley between Lucan and Leixlip. These guys were canoeing around one of the weirs. The water is forced through a narrow channel and this guy was riding the current:

Next Wednesday (2nd July, 7.30pm) is the inaugural Diet of Worms quiz thing. Darren talks about it here. They’re a bunch of comedic people (aka a troupe) and have been running the Puffincat Comedy Club in Bewleys for the past few months. If your on the Facebooks, you should add them. Anyway, they’re going to Edinburgh to partake in the festival and need euros, hence the quiz. I’ll be heading along with Darren, Lottie and Niamh. Teams of 4 are €40. A steal in other words. You may want to contact them ahead of time at dietofwormscomedy [at] gmail.com to secure a table.

This is my favourite skit of theirs, meet Harry and Fiona:

Listening habits - The Hours

Narcissus Road
This is the first of a few posts on music I’ve been listening to of late. As I must have mentioned before, one of the guys from the local pub is mad into new music. He gave me a CD by a band called The Hours about a month ago and I have not been able to stop listening to it. Titled ‘Narcissus Road’, it’s simply superb. I rarely listen to albums all the way through but this is one of those albums.

My favourite tracks would be ‘Ali in the Jungle’, ‘Narcissus Road’, ‘Back When You Were Good’ and ‘People Say’. According to their MySpace page, they’re back in the studio working on the second album. I can’t wait to hear it and hopefully they’ll go on tour when they’ve finished it. If you’re into indie music in any way, please give the video below a watch.
